Frequently asked questions
1. What is FotoliaXT?
FotoliaXT is a XTensions software module that adds additional capabilities such
as image search and ability to purchase image license rights online directly
inside QuarkXPress without leaving the application and your creative flow.
2. What system requirements do I need to use FotoliaXT?
You need QuarkXPress 7.2 or higher for Windows XP or Vista to be able to install
and use FotoliaXT. You also need a internet connection. We recommend a DSL
connection although you can use a slower bandwidth. There should be enough
space on your harddisk to store purchased images.
3. How much does FotoliaXT cost?
FotoliaXT is a free XTension. You can download, install and use it for free.
4. How much does it cost to be a Fotolia member?
To get member of the Fotolia image
bank community you can sign up for free. After signing up you can browse images,
drag and drop them onto your layouts, use the lightbox to manage pre-selections
and purchase rights starting at 1 Fotolia credit. You can also use the free
images option to get images without charge. For details about the Fotolia
membership conditions and royalty-free licensing please read the Fotolia Website.
5. How to install FotoliaXT?
Just download the installer file, save it to your desktop and double click on
it. You will then be asked about your preferred language and you will be guided
through the installation process. When asked for the XTensions folder of
QuarkXPress please select the current folder of your latest QuarkXPress 7
installation and then continue. After you installed the XTension you must
restart QuarkXPress to find the new entry in “menu” -> “Show FotoliaXT”. You also must be connected to the internet otherwise you get an error message.
6. Where does FotoliaXT saves my purchased hi-resolution images?
After you purchased and downloaded a licensed image it will automatically saved
to the folder: “My Documents/FotoliaXT/”. Here you can find, move and edit your purchased images.
7. Can I define my own folder where FotoliaXT is saving purchased images?
In the current version 1.2 it is not possible to define your own image folder.
8. When are you going to release FotoliaXT for Mac OS X?
A Mac version is in planning phase. Please send us an email if you would like to
see a Mac version being released sooner to feedback(at)fotolia-xt.com, subject:
Want FotoliaXT for Mac
9. How do I get rid of the Fotolia watermark in placed images?
While placing an image via drag&drop onto your layout you are only placing a low-resolution preview image that
conatins a watermark. At the same time the image will be automatically added to
your shopping cart as a reference. The low-resolution images are only used for
layout purposes. If you want to publish your layouts you have to purchase the
image first. Go to your shopping cart, select the resolution you need for print
or Web usage and finish the purchasing process. By clicking “Download” each to each purchased image FotoliaXT will download the hi-resolution file and
automatically replace the preview image. Now the watermarks are gone. There is
just some final adjustment required and your document is ready to be published.
